3 Houses In Poso Damaged By An Earthquake With A Magnitude Of 6.0

PALU - Central Sulawesi Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that three housing units in Poso Regency were damaged due to the impact of an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0.

"This data is temporary, it could change because the BPBD Rapid Response Team (TRC) is conducting field assessments," said Head of Central Sulawesi BPBD Akris Fattah Yunus as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 24.

From the reports received, three houses suffered minor damage or were damaged by the walls of the houses due to the strength of earthquake shocks in Southeast Pamona, South Pamona and Tindoli Districts.

It is certain that there were no casualties from the incident, it's just that people have not dared to enter the house, because aftershocks are still happening.

"Our team continues to carry out assessments, coordinating with BPBD Poso and the local village government to obtain further information," he said.

According to BMKG monitoring, the epicenter of the earthquake was on land located at coordinates 2.01 degrees South Latitude; 120.78 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 10 kilometers and the earthquake was classified as a shallow earthquake.

"The earthquake has no potential for a tsunami, we ask the public to remain calm and don't panic," said Akris.

Director of the results of the analysis of the source mechanism shows that the earthquake has a sliding mechanism (stripe-slip).
