The government through the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) is collaborating with the Association of Indonesian Scholarship Networks to officially launch the One Million Scholarships Movement for Indonesia, Thursday, July 24, in a national ceremony held in Jakarta. This initiative is a new milestone in efforts to expand access to education that is equitable, sustainable, and inclusive for all Indonesian people.

The Coordinating Minister for PMK, Pratikno, in his speech emphasized that the launch of this movement was a tangible manifestation of the collaboration between the government and civil society, in this case the Scholarship Network Association, in order to answer the challenges of limited access to education, especially for children from prosperous families but have great potential.

"This collaboration has helped the government's work to improve access and the quality of education for Indonesian children. Do not let children who have extraordinary talents not be facilitated to continue their studies because of economic obstacles," said Coordinating Minister Pratikno in his speech quoted from ANTARA.

The launch event was marked by a short documentary video showing depicting the spirit, vision, and strategy of implementing the Million Scholarships Movement. The show highlights the importance of multi-party support in building superior Indonesian human resources.

The Honorary Council of the Indonesian Scholarship Network Association, Tantowi Yahya, was also present and stated that this movement was an important part of the strategic move towards the realization of Indonesia Gold's 2045 vision, namely Indonesia's dream of becoming a developed and prosperous country on the 100th anniversary of independence.

"Our national target is clear, 2045 is the golden year, where Indonesia is expected to become a developed nation, and the main foundation is quality human resources. This movement is part of this great endeavor," said Tantowi.

The One Million Scholarships Movement is a collaboration-based national initiative that synergizes various existing scholarship programs, both domestically and abroad. This program will target people with potential from weak economic backgrounds, including those with academic and non-akademic achievements.

More than just providing financial assistance, this movement is also designed to create an open, integrated, and collaborative national scholarship ecosystem. Its ambitious target is to reach one million beneficiaries by 2045.

To achieve this, this movement strategy includes strengthening inter-institutional synergy, developing a digital-based scholarship information system, as well as public education through various participatory activities, one of which is the Indonesian People's Scholarship Party. In addition, this movement also encourages the birth of policies that strengthen the national education funding system.

Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Scholarship Networks, Rina Fatimah, explained that the mechanism for the selection and recruitment of scholarship recipients is currently being prepared in detail with all stakeholders.

"We are finalizing a selection system that is fair, transparent, and can reach various target groups, both in big cities and remote parts of Indonesia," he said.

With this launch, the government hopes that the One Million Scholarships Movement will become a new energy in Indonesia's human development, making education the main vehicle for social mobility, as well as answering structural inequality in access to higher education.
