BANDUNG - The parents of students with disabilities who live in the Griya Harapan Disable Social Service Center Women's Dormitory (PPSGHD), West Java Social Service, Cimahi City, admitted that they were disappointed with the sudden emptying of facilities.
Ironically, the emptying was carried out on Tuesday, July 22 or the day before the commemoration of National Children's Day (HAN).
Asep Sudrajat (52), father of Kristina - a student of class VI SLBN A Pajajaran Bandung - said the action felt forced and inhumane.
Asep said there was no prior notification that his son had to leave the dormitory which had been a residence for the past three years.
"From the Social Service, I think it is very inhumane. My child is still in school, but when he returned to the dormitory his belongings had just been released," Asep said when met at SLBN A Pajajaran Bandung, Antara, Wednesday, July 23.
According to Asep, he only received information from the school in the afternoon that Kristina had to be picked up immediately. There is no official explanation for the reasons for emptying the dormitory.
When he arrived at the location, he found that all his son's belongings had been moved outside the dormitory, without any officers on guard.
"I'm confused. Who brings out these items? From which side? There is no notification at all. This child is in school and lives in a dormitory with good supervision," he said.
The dormitory, said Asep, had a positive impact on the development of his child, both mentally and in discipline. He said Kristina was more stable and comfortable while living there because he received religious supervision and education.
"Now at home, I'm confused. I work, I can't keep an eye on it. My son is a girl, 17 years old. I'm afraid he's going anywhere," said Asep.
He hopes that local governments and related agencies will immediately provide solutions, especially for students with disabilities from outside the city who have been dependent on dormitory facilities.
"If it can be built again. Children from outside the city need a place to live. Don't let them lose access just because there is no safe place to stay," he said.
Previously, it was known that two students with disabilities had to leave the PPSGHD girls' dormitory suddenly. The assistant said there was no official notification and even the room key was forcibly dismantled.
