TANJUNG SELOR - A joint team of search and rescue operations (SAR) from the Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the North Kalimantan Police (Kaltara) searched the waters of Tanjung Tiram to Muara Sekatak, Bulungan Regency, since Sunday, July 20.

The Head of Public Relations of the North Kalimantan Police, Kombes Budi Rahmat, revealed that the search with Binmas Air was to find a casual daily worker, Umar (54), from West Tarakan District, Tarakan City.

It is strongly suspected that the victim was the victim of a crocodile attack.

"It has been two days since the team conducted a search by combing the water area, after the loss report was received from the family," said Kombes Budi, Monday, July 21.

Budi said the report on the disappearance of the victim began with a family statement that said Umar was last seen on July 6.

"At that time the victim entered the pond with his son, Ikshan Setiadi, to poison the grass of the embankment. Umar was then left alone in the pond because his son continued his work at a private pond in Paspayau," said Budi.

"However, from July 9 to 19, the victim's wife was unable to contact Umar," he added.

In the search, separate personal items were found without a body. These findings reinforce Umar's speculation that it is most likely attacked by water predators or crocodiles.

"Residents and local fishermen suspect that the victim was attacked by Crocodiles, until now the search is still being carried out," said Bdi.

Four SAR personnel, Bripfa Sandy, Bripda Aril, Bripda Saleh, and Bharada Salmansyah are still searching using the Sea Rider Police Ship (KP).

The team combed five crucial coordinate points covering the waters of Muara Tanjung Tiram to Sekatak, Bulungan Regency.

"The search process is still continuing and has not yielded results, the SAR team continues to strive to find Umar's whereabouts in the midst of challenging water conditions," he said.
