Gerindra Suggests DKI Provincial Government To Issue Widow Card Social Assistance

The Gerindra Party faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD has proposed that the DKI Provincial Government issue a social assistance program for widows who have been abandoned by their husbands.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Treasurer of the Gerindra Faction of the DKI DPRD, Jamilah Abdul Gani, in a plenary meeting of the general view of the faction of the Draft Regional Regulation on Amendments to the Regional Budget for Fiscal Year 2025.

"The Gerindra faction has asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to consider issuing a Jakarta widow card program or KJJ," said Jamilah at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Central Jakarta, Monday, July 21.

Jamilah explained that this proposal was an aspiration from the community submitted to members of the Gerindra faction during the recess.

However, not all widows are proposed to get a widow card. If the DKI Provincial Government agrees, the beneficiaries of the aid are women with the status of widows who are 45 years old.

Then, another requirement for the recipient of the widow card proposed by Gerindra is a widow who does not work, acts as a housewife, leaves her dead by her husband, and is registered in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS).

"The KJJ card is expected to be a social protection instrument that is responsive to the group's economic vulnerability," he explained.

Meanwhile, a member of the PAN faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Bambang Kusumanto, admitted that he also approved Gerindra's proposal for the DKI Provincial Government to issue a widow card.

"We heard that there was a very interesting proposal today, namely the proposal regarding the Jakarta widow card. I personally really support the existence of this widow card," said Bambang.
