DPR Urges Government And Aplicator To Respond To Ojol's Demands

JAKARTA Member of Commission V DPR RI Syafiuddin responded to the massive demonstration of online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) demanding a 10 percent reduction in application cuts and 90 percent of revenue for drivers. According to him, the government must meet the demands of these driver partners.

Moreover, President Prabowo Subianto promised to improve the quality of life of ojol drivers when they were still presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election. And Commission V of the DPR held a public hearing (RDPU) last May.

Syafyuddin emphasized that the aspirations of ojol drivers are the voices of the working community that must be considered. He asked the government to immediately intervene and facilitate dialogue between applicator companies and driver representatives in order to achieve a fair agreement.

"Ojol drivers are the backbone of online transportation in Indonesia. They work hard in the field, but often their income is eroded by too large pieces of application. The government must listen and ensure justice in this system," Syafyuddin told reporters, Monday, July 21.

The PKB legislator from the East Java XI electoral district also urged applicators to immediately respond to the demands of drivers. According to Syafyuddin, online transportation technology companies should not only focus on profit without paying attention to the welfare of driver partners who spearhead the service.

"The PKB faction fully supports the demand that the application cut be reduced to 10 percent. The app must place driver welfare as a priority. Without the driver, this business will not work," he said.

Furthermore, Syafyuddin reminded that the existence of online motorcycle taxis has become an important part of the mobility of modern people, especially in urban areas. Therefore, the government and applicators must be responsive and ensure that no party is harmed.

"We in the DPR are ready to oversee this aspiration. If necessary, we will encourage regulations that are more in favor of the welfare of driver-partners," said Syafiuddin.

As reported, the ojol driver held a massive demonstration entitled 'Action for the Awakening of Volume II of National Online Transportation 217'. The demonstration, which was attended by around 50,000 drivers, will be carried out around the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Central Jakarta.

There are five demands made by ojol drivers. Among them demanded that the state present the Online Transportation/Perppu Law, divide the driver's results by 90 percent of the applicator 10 percent of the fixed price, the government make tariff regulations between goods and food, investigative audit of applicators, and remove aceng, slots, hubs, multi orders, members, squares etc. As well as all regular drivers again.
