Viral Workers Of Cikarang Toll Gate Protest Closed, Police: We Open And Close, Only 5 Minutes

JAKARTA - The police decided to carry out an open-close scheme at the West Cikarang toll gate. This scheme is carried out to unravel congestion due to the fact that many people still try to go home for Eid.

"We will open and close (West Cikarang GT)," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Sambodo Punromo Yogo to reporters, Thursday, May 6.

This open-close scheme was also carried out after a protest from bus employees who were stuck in traffic when they were about to go to work. Employee protests to the traffic jam went viral on social media.

"The incident was a protest from the employee transportation buses, who protested the closure of the Cikarang Barat toll gate from the Cikampek direction," said Sambodo.

In fact, continued Sambodo, the closure of the West Cikarang GT was intended to prevent crossings and lead to a build-up of vehicles with vehicles that were turned back for trying to go home.

"So finally we opened and closed. It only happened briefly and now the two directions are back to normal," he said.

Videos that record employee protests amid traffic jams, as a result of the implementation of the ban on going home, circulated on social media.

The protests from the employees because they could not get out of the West Cikarang toll gate (GT) from the Cikampek direction, causing traffic jams.

The video shows a buildup of vehicles dominated by buses. Many motorists stood on the toll road while protesting because they could not continue their journey.
