JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR from the PDIP faction, Aria Bima, revealed that his faction had not discussed further the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the separation of the implementation of national and local elections, especially regarding the position of DPRD which could potentially be extended due to the decision.

Aria also encouraged the leaders of the institution to sit down together to discuss the latest Constitutional Court decisions. Even better, he said, if the Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani and President Prabowo Subianto want to initiate this meeting.

"(PDIP) does not exist yet, we will still discuss it. (But) I agree (there is an agenda for the meeting of party leaders and the DPR, ed) because of the complexity of the problem, while we want seven dozen, it is better if the leaders of high state institutions sit down and take consultation steps to discuss the Constitutional Court's decision which is quite strategic," said Aria Bima, Monday, July 14.

"While we will celebrate independence day, the heads of high state institutions usually gather, the consultation meeting. Mba Puan and Pak Prabowo are initiating well," he continued.

Regarding the PDIP's own stance, Aria Bima said that his faction was still reviewing the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the separation of national and local elections.

"Today the Party Central Research Council invites all ranks of democracy activists in the offices of the Party Central Leadership Council, both from campuses and non-campus and from NGO institutions, to listen more. Because without us listening from various existing sources, the most basic and unfunded issues in us running elections for almost 5 times will not be seen," he said.

The PDIP politician said that the PDIP DPP would hold a meeting tomorrow with one of its agendas to discuss the Constitutional Court's decision. After discussing and reviewing the decision, he said, PDIP would take a stand.

"The information must be clear, the problem will be seen and later the solution will be only as an attitude of the DPP, then we will discuss the meeting tomorrow, today we are still reviewing various sources," he said.

"(So) there has been no decision, but what is clear is that the substance is the improvement of the democratic system that we have implemented," concluded Aria Bima.
