JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX DPR RI Arzeti Bilbina highlighted the policy of the West Java Provincial Government which stipulates early school entry hours, which is 06.30 WIB, in the 2025/2026 school year.
According to Arzeti, in principle, this policy can have a positive impact on children as long as it is accompanied by a psychosocial approach and support from the family.
"I am one of those who agree with this policy. If it enters early in the morning, it means that children must also sleep faster. I think children can become healthier and have a positive lifestyle," said Arzeti in Jakarta, Friday, July 11.
He assessed that the policy of entering school early in the morning could be a momentum to change the child's lifestyle to a healthier direction.
"By getting used to getting used to sleeping early, children can avoid the habit of sleeping late at night or activities such as playing gadgets, watching TV without control, or even playing outside the house," said the legislator from the East Java I Election Area.
Arzeti said the policy could also strengthen the formation of children's characters, especially in terms of discipline.
"So we can also see this policy as an effort to increase discipline and a healthy lifestyle from an early age," he said.
However, Arzeti emphasized the importance of the active role of schools and local governments in the process of transitioning the study hours. He encouraged socialization and assistance for families so that adaptation runs smoothly.
"Schools and local governments also need to provide active socialization and assistance to families, so that this transition can run smoothly and does not interfere with children's welfare," he concluded.
As is known, the policy for entering school hours early will be implemented starting Monday, July 14, 2025, based on the Circular Letter of the Governor of West Java Number: 58/PK.03/DISDIK on Effective Hours in the Education Unit.
In addition to setting the entry hours at 06.30 WIB, the circular also stipulates that teaching and learning activities only take place from Monday to Friday, without Saturday.
