JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono reminded that every dispute and conflict must be resolved peacefully, while speaking at the ASEAN'India Post Ministerial Conference (PMC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Thursday.

Regional security is one of the three main issues that ASEAN and India paid attention to in this meeting.

The Indonesian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of upholding the principle of peaceful settlement in the face of increasingly unstable geopolitical dynamics, in order to maintain regional stability

"Disputes and conflicts must be resolved peacefully, through dialogue and diplomacy, not violence," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, launching a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thursday, July 10.

Responding to the situation in South Asia, the Indonesian Foreign Minister said, Indonesia called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint.

The Indonesian Foreign Minister also emphasized that as a party country in the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC), India is expected to be an example in upholding the principles of dialogue, mutual respect and peaceful resolution of disputes.

It is known that India and Pakistan were involved in tensions and attacked each other in May. India blamed Pakistan for the violence that killed 26 people in India'sASH in April. Pakistan denies links to the attack.

In addition to regional security, the main issues that ASEAN and India paid attention to at meetings in Malaysia were economic cooperation and food security.

The Indonesian Foreign Minister assessed that the India-ASEAN partnership, which has been going on for more than thirty years, must be strengthened, after being consistent in advancing regional peace, stability and prosperity.
