Indonesia Encourages Trade, Peace And World System Reform At The 2025 BRICS Summit

JAKARTA - The BRICS Summit in Brazil in 2025 resulted in a number of strategic agreements contained in the "Leaders' Declaration" which focused on strengthening multilateralism, global peace, economic cooperation and sustainable development.

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, who was present at the Summit this time, emphasized Indonesia's full support for the new direction of BRICS cooperation.

"Then the outcomes of the meeting, one of which was the leader of declaration and in the leader of the declaration there were several points related to strengthening multilateralism and reform rather than global governance," said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto in his statement in Rio de Janeiro, launching a statement from the BPMI Setpres, Monday, July 7.

The second point focuses on strengthening international peace and stability, as well as deepening cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and finance.

For Indonesia, continued Coordinating Minister Airlangga, this agenda is very important in expanding market access for national products and creating economic resilience amid global turmoil.

"Now this second point is important for Indonesia amidst the uncertainty that we have BRICS which is expected to also absorb the market from Indonesian products," he explained.

He further explained that the third point in the declaration concerns commitment to climate change issues and fair and inclusive sustainable development. BRICS countries agree that the energy transition and green development must continue to consider justice for developing countries.

"Then the third is of course related to climate change and sustainable promotion, which is fair and inclusive development," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.

While the fourth point of Leaders' Declaration is strengthening partnerships in the fields of human, social and cultural development.

Indonesia, said Coordinating Minister Airlangga, assessed that this collaboration was important to promote equitable social transformation and strengthen each other among member countries.

"The fourth is partnership for promotion, human, socialand cultural development. Now that's an outcome from the Leaders' Declaration," he concluded.
