First Joining The BRICS Summit, Prabowo Is Warmly Welcomed By The President Of Brazil

JAKARTA President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto was greeted directly by Brazilian President Luiz Inbowo Lula da Silva when he entered the Rio de Janeiro Museum of Modern Art (MAM), the location for the 2025 BRICS Summit, Saturday 6 July.

In a statement from the State Secretariat, Sunday, July 7, Prabowo arrived at exactly 10:53 am local time, after leaving his place of stay. He was greeted with honorary troops and a red carpet, a tradition that shows respect for world leaders at various events including the BRICS summit in Brazil.

After shaking hands with Lula da Silva, the two took a joint photo in front of the BRICS background, marking Indonesia's involvement, which is now officially part of the world's economic group, along with countries such as Brazil, Russia, India, China, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and others.

Prior to the 2025 BRICS Summit, President Prabowo and President Lula's final meeting took place at the G20 Summit, where Brazil hosted the meeting in November 2024.

Prabowo's presence is not just a symbol. He was accompanied by officials including Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Djiwandono, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. The arrival of the Indonesian delegation marked the government's seriousness in taking an active role in establishing a new, fairer and more balanced global economic order.
