JAKARTA - The military staff of the Indian Navy headquarters (AL) in New Delhi, India were arrested on charges of espionage.
NDTV reported that the alleged perpetrator named Vishal Yadav was arrested on charges of being a 'cepu' leaking sensitive defense information to Pakistan's Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI).
The arrests were made by the Indian Rajasthan Police intelligence team after months of monitoring Yadav.
"The CID Rajasthan Intelligence Unit continues to monitor espionage activities carried out by the Pakistani intelligence agency (ISI). During surveillance, they focused their attention on Kandav, who was constantly in contact with a woman who handled Pakistani intelligence services through social media," the NDTV report quoted senior police officer at the Rajasthan Police,rusukant Gupta.
Yadav has reportedly shared classified information related to naval operations and other defense agencies with a woman who identified herself as Priya Sharma, who is believed to be an ISI agent. Police said the woman paid for it in exchange for sensitive information.
According to the report, officers who checked Dadav's cellphone found communication and data transfers for years.
The communications and data transfer also took place during Operation Sindoor, India's military operations against terror centers in Pakistan and Pakistan's occupied koordinator in response to the incident in Palaligam.
