Sadis Employer Persecuting ART In Batam Becomes A Suspect, Threatened With 10 Years In Prison

BATAM - The Barelang City Police (Polresta), Riau Islands, named R, a resident of Bukit Golf Residence housing, Batam City, as a suspect in the alleged abuse case against Intan (22) who works as a household assistant (ART).

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police, AKP Debby Tri Andrestian, said that apart from R, his party also named M, Intan's colleague, as the second suspect.

"On the basis of the statements of the witnesses, the statements of the suspects, so we named two suspects, namely R and M," said Debby at the Barelang Police Headquarters, Monday, June 23, as reported by ANTARA.

This case stems from a police report received by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police on Sunday (22/6), related to a viral video of the abuse of an ART full of bruises on his face and entire body.

Based on the report, he said, investigators immediately carried out a series of investigations and found allegations of criminal acts of abuse committed by R as the employer and M as the victim's co-worker.

Since Sunday (22/6) afternoon, investigators conducted intensive investigations, examined five witnesses, and examined the suspects and conducted a crime scene (TKP). Until this morning both of them were named as suspects.

The chronology of the persecution occurred, when the victim Intan forgot to close the perpetrator's pet dog cage, so the two pet dogs fought and one of them was injured.

For this incident, suspect R was furious and beat the agency.

From the results of the investigation, R has not hit Intan once or twice, but since he started working from June 2024 the beating took place. The suspect M admitted that his employer had ordered him to beat Intan.

Not only that, R treats Intan inhumanely, one year's salary has not been paid, a month the victim is paid only Rp. 1.8 million, the salary cut for each victim makes a mistake. The victim was also told to eat animal waste.

"From the information we did the examination that there was (eating animal droppings), from the victim's statement there was also that the victim had been asked to eat animal waste," said Debby.

After being named a suspect, investigators immediately detained the two suspects. Investigators confiscated a number of evidences, such as evidence, an electric mosquito racket, an orange plastic bucket, a blue waste producer, a plastic folding chair, three books (victim's error record).

According to Debby, the condition of Intan's victim who is currently being treated at Elizabeth Batam City Hospital suffered serious injuries, namely bruises due to the abuse he experienced, such as on his head, leg, and body.

The suspect's actions were charged with Article 44 paragraph (2) of Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence (KDRT) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1E with a penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 30 million.
