JAKARTA - Nuclear facilities should not be targeted for attacks, said International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grossi, following the US attack on three Iranian nuclear facilities.
"I have repeatedly stated that nuclear facilities should not be attacked," Grossi said on Sunday.
He called on the military to exercise restraint and make the much-needed efforts to achieve diplomatic solutions.
Grossi stressed that a halt to hostilities is needed so that the IAEA can continue inspections in Iran, including verifying Tehran's enriched uranium supplies.
He stressed that a continuous and timely exchange of information with Tehran on nuclear safety is a very important issue.

The IAEA said that Iran's nuclear facilities, which were attacked by the US on Saturday night (21/6), deposited enriched uranium, which could lead to radioactive and chemical contamination.
"According to the latest information verified by the IAEA before the attack on Iran began on June 13, three locations targeted by the United States also included Esfahan and Natanz containing nuclear material in the form of enriched uranium to various levels, which could lead to radioactive and chemical contamination within the facilities attacked", the IAEA said in a statement.
US President Donald Trump said the attack was intended to limit Iran's nuclear capabilities.
Trump urged Iran to "end the war" if it did not want to face much more serious consequences.
