Foreign Minister Sugiono Discusses Cooperation To Preparation For President Prabowo's Visit When Meeting The Russian Foreign Minister

JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono will discuss cooperation to prepare for President Prabowo Subianto's visit during a working visit to Russia.

Foreign Minister Sugiono is planned to hold a bilateral meeting with his team, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"Cooperation and bilateral issues," said a spokesman for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rolliansyah "Roy" Soemirat to VOI.id in a short message, Tuesday, June 17.

"Also preparations for the President's visit on June 19-20," he added.

Earlier, Roy in a press statement last week in Jakarta said President Prabowo would make a state visit to Russia.

In addition to fulfilling the invitation to a bilateral meeting from President Vladimir Putin, President Prabowo is also scheduled to make a speech at the opening session and plenary session of the 2025 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

Separately, the Russian Foreign Ministry in a post on its website wrote Foreign Minister Sugiono would make a working visit to Russia on June 17.

Russian news agency TASS reports that Foreign Minister Lavrov will discuss economic cooperation and the development of bilateral legal grounds with Foreign Minister Sugiono during a meeting in Moscow.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova announced the two top diplomats would exchange opinions "regarding various issues in the bilateral agenda," including in the fields of security, trade, economy, and humanity. The increase in the legal basis for relations between Russia and Indonesia will also be discussed.

Zakharova said the agenda of the meeting of Foreign Minister Sugiono with Foreign Minister Lavrov would include deepening political contacts, at the highest level.
