JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman, stated that his party proposed that the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) be included explicitly in our Draft Law on the Criminal Procedure Law (RUU KUHAP). He also wants to fight for LPSK so that it can be regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code.
This was conveyed by Habiburokhman in a public hearing (RDPU) with LPSK and the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi) at the DPR building, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 17.
"We want to fight for this LPSK, whether the name is called the nomenclature LPSK, or the institution is included in the new Criminal Procedure Code," said Habiburokhman.
The Gerindra legislator again mentioned the selection process for the LPSK leadership some time ago. According to Habiburokhman, the selection process illustrates how strategic the role of LPSK in the criminal justice system is.
"In principle, we agree, this is very strategic if LPSK really has to be in the Criminal Procedure Code, whether the name LPSK is called the nomenclature, whether the institution is regulated in the new Criminal Procedure Code," he explained.
Habiburokhman also asked LPSK to assign commissioner representatives to coordinate with the DPR expert team and the DPR Expert Board (BKD) to formulate concrete norms regarding the existence of LPSK in the Criminal Procedure Code Bill.
"Later, it can be coordinated with the Head of the Section and Pak Sensi from the DPR's Expert Board. Ahead of the discussion, we will be able to communicate again," he said.
