Group Clashes In Salt Lake City, 3 People Shot Dead

Three people, including an eight-month-old baby, were shot dead after the sacking of 2 annual carnival groups on the outskirts of Salt Lake City, Utah, United States.

A 41-year-old woman was among those killed. Meanwhile, an 18-year-old man in one of the groups involved in the fight also died in a shooting that occurred during the "Westfest" at Centennial Park, West Valley City on Sunday, June 15 evening.

As reported by Reuters on Monday, June 16, the West Valley City Police Department said as police approached to break up an argument between the two groups, a 16-year-old man in a group took out firearms and opened fire on another group.

Police returned fire, but did not hit the suspect.

It was reported that 2 teenagers were also injured because they were shot in the arm.

But it is not known whether they are linked to the group involved.

According to the Weapons Violence Archives, there have been 156 such mass shootings in the United States so far this year if they are defined as incidents with four or more people being shot or killed, excluding the shooter.
