DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government is ready to build a waste power plant (PLTSa) in at least four locations as instructed by President Prabowo Subianto.

Currently, Pramono is still waiting for the issuance of a presidential regulation (perpres) to then start planning for the construction of the PLTSa.

"We are waiting for the presidential regulation from the central government. But the principle is as well as the direction of the President, whether the PLTSa will be 5 or 4, Jakarta is ready for that," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, June 16.

According to Pramono, local governments are indeed better able to build PLTSa than other waste processing projects.

Like the intermediate treatment facility (ITF) project which requires the government to pay the fee or tipping fee to the private sector as the waste manager on the project.

If you use PLTSa, according to Pramono, the DKI Provincial Government can directly sell the electricity generated from the project to the State Electricity Company (PLN).

"Who will buy the electricity later? Of course, the electricity will be channeled through PLN. So that in the past there must always be a tipping fee, so the tipping fee is no longer needed," said Pramono.

"Because with the current technology, this generator or PLTSa, the technology is not as sophisticated as it used to be. This has become a medium technology, everyone can use it," he added.

If the PLTSa has been built, the DKI Provincial Government will use the advantages of the electricity production from waste processing to build a giant sea wall embankment or giant sea wall.

"So if we build 4 PLTSa, 2,500 feeders per day (tonnes of garbage), that's more or less (producing) 1,500 megawatts, then Jakarta's electricity needs will be fully supplied from that place. There is a revenue for Jakarta. Well, this revenue will be used in part to build a giant sea wall, "explained Pramono.
