3 Years KKB In Indonesia, Mahfud: 95 People Were Brutally Killed, 110 Victims Were Injured

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD said the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua caused many losses. Including, causing many casualties.

He explained that over the past three years, 95 people died as a result of the violence. In detail, 59 civilians, 27 TNI soldiers, and 9 members of the Police.

"A total of 95 people (died, red) were very brutal", Mahfud said during a working visit to the city of Pasuruan, East Java, Monday, May 3.

In addition to the victims who died, he also explained that there were 110 injured victims and most of them came from elements of civil society.

"The community or 53 civilians were injured, tortured, tortured, 51 people TNI, and 16 Police", he said.

Furthermore, the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court also admitted that he was surprised why there were so many videos that were circulating when this separatist group took action. "There is always a video, the news is also spread", he said.

"Well, they continue to commit acts of violence and their actions include killing, burning houses, burning planes, slitting people's throats, burning doctors on the side of the road, the General Election Commissions employees being beheaded, then challenging to make a video challenge, 'here TNI and Police, I cut your neck, I invite your war'. That's what happened", added Mahfud.

Even though the KKB has been acting brutally so far, the government is still trying to resolve this conflict by prioritizing human rights.

"We (the government, red) are still guided by protecting human rights", he said.

Previously reported, the announcement of the KKB Papua into a terrorist organization was made by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD at his office, on Medan Merdeka Barat Street, Thursday, April 29. This label is also deemed by Law Number 5 of 2018 concerning the Crime of Terrorism.
