JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon inaugurated the Majapahit Museum in Trowulan, Mojokerto, Tuesday, June 10. This location is believed to be the center of glory of the Majapahit Kingdom.

Not just a ceremony, more importantly, the government has officially changed the name of the Majapahit Information Center (PIM) to the Majapahit Museum.

"This is not just a change of name, but a manifestation of the seriousness of preserving Majapahit's big legacy and developing its cultural heritage area," said Fadli in a written statement received by VOI Wednesday, June 11.

According to him, the status of the museum strengthens historical identity, strengthens cultural literacy, and improves institutional position in the national cultural ecosystem.

The museum was previously known as the Throwulan Museum, with a collection of more than 83 thousand artifacts from the city, metal, to its pre-historic heritage.

"Through this museum, we keep history alive. Values such as the struggle, unity, and diversity that have been instilled by Majapahit need to continue to light up," said Fadli.

He hopes that the Majapahit Museum will grow as a center for education as well as a driving force for the cultural economy.

"This is the first step. We need to organize collections and better access so that this museum contributes widely to the community," he added.

Fadli also highlighted the importance of protecting intellectual property rights from Majapahit. "This heritage belongs to Indonesia. It should not be misused by anyone," he said.
