PALU - Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KemenP2MI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al Khairaat University, Palu, Monday (9/6/2025). This agreement is in order to strengthen the role of higher education in producing global talents.

This MoU was signed by the Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding as a form of synergy between the government and universities in building a structured, measurable, and globally oriented migration education system.

In an open dialogue with students, Minister Karding conveyed the importance of positioning campuses as an important part of the modern and dignified migrant worker ecosystem.

"We want universities like Al Khairaat to be part of the migration training ecosystem. Migration today is not just a work abroad, but a global career journey. Campuses can be a place to build global mentality, work competence, and cross-border competitiveness," said Minister Karding.

Furthermore, Minister Karding emphasized that migration education does not mean encouraging students to 'get out' from Indonesia, but instead opens the way for the nation's children to learn, develop, and rebuild their homeland with knowledge and experience globally.

"Going a migrant, going home to the skipper. This is not an empty slogan. If the process is correct, we are not losing people, we are printing future leaders who think globally and build local ones," he added.

Through this collaboration, KemenP2MI and universities to encourage the preparation of the pramigration training curriculum, language training and culture of destination countries, as well as strengthening legal literacy and protecting workers.

Minister Karding hopes that Al Khairaat University can become a pioneer in eastern Indonesia in preparing superior migrant human resources and ready to compete in the international work market.

Many countries are currently short of young workers. Indonesia has a demographic bonus. If we can prepare them from campus with character, competence, and skills, then we don't send workers, we send professionals," said Minister Karding.
