Sacrificial Cows Fall Into Infiltration Wells In Kemayoran, Evacuated Using Heavy Equipment

JAKARTA - A cow that will be slaughtered for Eid al-Adha sacrifices fell into an infiltration well. The incident occurred on Jalan Selaparang, Gunung Sahari Selatan Village, Kemayoran District, Central Jakarta.

The residents reported the fall of the cow in the water reservoir channel to the firefighters at 07.55 WIB because they were unable to remove the animal. Officers began evacuation at 08.01 WIB.

"In the initial condition, the cow's back leg has entered a hole. Below it there is a fairly large sewer channel, so the ground is not strong enough to withstand the burden," said one of the officers from the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-dept., Umar, Friday, June 6.

The heavy weight of the cow requires officers to remove the sacrificial animal using heavy equipment. Officers also widen the hole to facilitate evacuation.

"The problem is, we want to lift it but it turns out that the cow has an injury to the leg. So the access is difficult and the access is also small. So we are trying to increase the access so that it can be withdrawn with heavy duty," said Umar.

For one hour, the 1 ton cow was successfully removed from the channel hole. The evacuation process was completed at 09.08 WIB.

"The evacuation process lasted approximately an hour. Alhamdulillah, cows can be lifted and can be slaughtered without obstacles," he said.
