Prevent Black Campaigns From Facing PSU Papuan Pilkada, Bawaslu Conducts Cyber Patrol

JAKARTA - The Papua Province Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) conducted cyber patrols during the re-voting campaign (PSU) for the Papuan Governor and Deputy Governor Election on August 6, 2025.

"The Bawaslu cyber patrol is to prevent black campaigns, hate speech, and hoax news during the Papuan Pilkada PSU campaign," said Papua Province Bawaslu Violation, Data and Information Coordinator Amandus Situmorang in Supiori, Friday, June 6, as reported by Antara.

Amandus revealed that the Papua Province Bawaslu ranks in the success of the Papuan Pilkada PSU stages prioritize prevention efforts rather than prosecution.

He hopes that the pairs of candidates for governor/deputy governor, coalition of supporting political parties, candidate campaign teams, and sympathizers of supporters of candidate pairs can obey the regulations.

According to Amandus, the campaign of the candidate pair (paslon) for governor/deputy governor, to provide better political education in an elegant way in order to get the citizens' sympathy.

Amandus asked the candidate pairs during the polite campaign stage by conveying work program ideas as well as vision and mission.

By conveying the idea of a work program during the campaign, he said, it provides an overview for prospective voters on candidate pairs policies when they will make their choice on the D-days of the PSU, August 6.

Amandus emphasized that his party continues to coordinate with the Gakkumdu center, the police, and the prosecutor's office to oversee the Papua Pilkada PSU process.

Previously, the Papua Province Bawaslu had strengthened the capacity of the district supervisory committee in Supiori to oversee the Papuan Pilkada campaign until August 3, 2025.

The Papuan Pilkada PSU, he continued, refers to the Constitutional Court's decision to determine the Papuan Pilkada PSU with two participants who will compete for the governor and deputy governor seats, namely the candidate pair number 1 Benhur Tommy Mano-Costan Karma and candidate pair number 2 Mathius Fakhiri-Cawagub Aryoko Rumaropen.
