Chinese Foreigner Mastermind Of Human Smuggling From Labuan Bajo To Australia Arrested In Jakarta

The Investigation Team for the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) from Sub-Directorate IV of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police, arrested a foreign national (WNA) from China named He Jin alias Yen Cing who was the mastermind behind the human smuggling case to Australia.

"The foreigner was arrested in Jakarta on June 3 yesterday at around 22.00 WIB at the Office of the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Pol. Henry Novika Chandra in Kupang, Thursday, June 5, confiscated by Antara.

Suspect He Jin arrived in Kupang with a team from the NTT Regional Police on Thursday, June 5 this morning using one of the airlines.

He explained that He Jin was named the main suspect in the human smuggling case that occurred in November 2024, from Labuan Bajo Beach, NTT to the Australian coast.

He is suspected of being the mastermind of a syndicate of Chinese foreigners who want to enter Australia illegally.

Henry said that the investigation into this case was carried out thanks to intense coordination between the Division of the hubbinter, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters, the Director General of Immigration, and the TIP Unit of the NTT Police.

Based on the results of the investigation, it is known that He Jin and his gang have smuggled seven Chinese foreigners from Bali into Labuan Bajo using a fiber speed boat.

The foreigners had stayed for several days in Labuan Bajo, before illegally departing for Australia without notification to the immigration authorities.

The Chinese foreigner who was about to be smuggled was asked to pay per person US $ 5,000 thousand.

Suspect He Jin is suspected of violating Article 120 paragraph (1) and Article 122 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, with a penalty of 5 to 15 years in prison.
