JAKARTA - Access to adequate health services is the human right of every citizen. However, equal access is still a big challenge that has an impact on public health and welfare.
Therefore, the government has launched six pillars of health transformation to accelerate the improvement of health services. Especially in the third pillar regarding the Transformation of the Health Resilience System which plays an important role in maintaining a good health system amidst the global health threat. It also includes the manufacture or production to smooth and domestically produced distribution of pharmails.
Draeger Indonesia, as an international pioneer in the field of safety and medical technology, supports the third pillar of the transformation of health and the fifth pillar, in collaboration with strategic partners from both the government, industry and health professional associations. This partnership was also carried out in order to welcome the launch of locally produced medical devices in the near future. Overall, this initiation and commitment are to support the resilience of the health system in Indonesia.
The third pillar of the health transformation emphasizes several important things, namely the independence of Pharmacy and Medical Devices, which is important to reduce dependence on imported products by encouraging the production of medical devices and medicines in the country. Health transformation must also be in line with the transformation of the fifth pillar, namely health human resources.
The rapid development of science and technology as well as the dynamics of public health needs presents increasingly complex challenges in health services. However, with joint cooperation and commitment, health services, especially in crucial units such as the ICU and operating rooms, which are better, can be realized.
Managing Director of Draeger Indonesia, Ratna Kurniawati, said that the readiness of health workers needs to be done first before the implementation of health technology. This is very important to ensure that health technology can be used optimally and can provide health services as expected.
"Draeger Indonesia, has a philosophy of "Technology for Life", where our products make positive contributions to the community and the environment in various ways. One of the efforts to maximize this contribution is through increasing the competence of our product users, namely health workers," said Ratna, in a written statement, Wednesday, June 4.
"Draeger has an initiative in the form of a sustainable educational program that has been running in recent years which focuses on fostering young doctors and residents. This is part of a commitment to support the development of health workers to realize a better national health system in the future. This initiative is carried out by cooperating with various medical associations and in the future we will continue to work with various parties to support the transformation of domestic health human resources," added Ratna.
This time, Draeger Indonesia is working with the Kolegium Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy (KATI) in the ongoing education process to hold two workshop activities, namely 1) regarding the introduction of an anesthesia machine aimed at anesthesists and has started on May 9, 2025 and 2) regarding the Basic Ventilator aimed at general practitioners and anesthesia who work in the ICU, and have started on May 18, 2025. Workshop activities will be carried out at 17 Faculty of Medicine in Indonesia which has an Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy Study Program (PRODI).
KATI as a collegium is responsible for the education process in the field of anesthesiology and intensive therapy in periodic and critical emergencies, so that in this case the use of anesthesitic machines and ventilators is closely related to daily medical clinical practices. These two things also support the health transformation program carried by the Ministry of Health.
The chairman of the Kolegium Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy (KATI), Reza Widianto said, as part of the Kolegium Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy Indonesia (KATI) commitment to ensure an adaptive quality of education for the development of medical technology, his party encourages all educational study programs of specialists in anesthetology and intensive therapy to continue to improve the quality of learning and ensure that students gain the latest knowledge and skills.
"This effort is also in line with Kolegium's support in supporting the transformation of technology-based health services and innovation." he explained.
In collaboration with Draeger Indonesia, we designed two forms of strategic and relevant training. The Anesthesi Machine Workshop is specifically aimed at students who specialize in anesthetology and intensive therapy specialists to improve their understanding of the function and operation of the anesthetic machine safely and effectively in the operating room. Meanwhile, Basic Ventilator training is also open to general practitioners, given the importance of understanding ventilators in handling emergency cases and intensive care.
Controlling the use of ventilators is essential because this tool supports the respiratory function of patients who experience respiratory failure due to lung disease, trauma, or postoperative complications. We hope this training can improve clinical readiness and patient safety in various lines of health services so that it can help reduce the death rate in the ICU because of the right initial treatment.
In addition, collegium also participates in the use and development through clinical trials, especially for domestic products to help the resilience of domestic medical devices.

The workshop for anesthesiologists and intensive therapy must continue to be carried out considering that the installation of Draeger's anesthetic tools has been implemented in 1,208 hospitals in Indonesia and continues to grow. This workshop with KATI will add to our track record which consistently provides education in Indonesia and has educated more than 3000 health workers, both online and offline," added Ratna Kurniawati.
Draeger always aims to help health workers overcome the challenges of medical and ventilators of intensive care and lung monitors produced, as well as having the same goals. Draeger focuses on the latest developments for patient respiratory management in intensive care units (ICUs) and ventilators.
Draeger offers a wide selection of ventilation modes, both conventional and advanced ventilation modes recognized as standard including non-invasive ventilation and high flow oxygen therapy. Draeger is committed to increasing patient outcomes and clinical workflows at each point, including options to facilitate patient transport and initial mobilization.
"The readiness of these health workers is also to welcome the launch of our newest ventilator product which will soon be present in June 2025. We hope that the readiness of health workers and the launch of the latest ventilator products can improve the quality of health services in Indonesia," concluded Ratna Kurniawati.
