Pilgrimage To The Tomb Of Founding Figures, KAI Affirms Law Enforcement Commitment

JAKARTA - Ahead of the 17th Anniversary, the Indonesian Advocates Congress (KAI) held a pilgrimage to the graves of its two founding figures, the late Adnan Buyung Nasution and the late H. Indra Sahnun Lubis, on Thursday, May 19, 2025. This activity took place solemnly at the Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery, South Jakarta, as a form of respect and reminder of the long struggle in law enforcement in Indonesia.

The pilgrimage group was led by the President of KAI, Dr. Nasrullah Nawawi, SH, MH, together with the Secretary General of Dr (C) Antoni, SH, MH, and KAI Advisors, Erman Umar, SH. Also present were a number of senior advocates and members from various regions.

In an atmosphere full of silence and prayer, the pilgrimage participants recalled the important role of the two figures in laying the foundations of ethics and courage in the advocate profession. Erman Umar emphasized that this pilgrimage is not just an annual routine, but a momentum to reabsorb the values of the legal struggle inherited by the KAI founders.

"Adnan Buyung Nasution is not only a symbol of the struggle of advocates, but also a moral hero for the nation. This tradition is our way of caring for the legacy of its values," Erman said respectfully.

He also said that KAI was committed to encouraging the late Buyung Nasution to be recognized as a National Hero, given his contribution in defending human rights and upholding justice throughout his life.

This pilgrimage opens a series of activities ahead of the peak event of KAI's 17th Anniversary which will be held on May 30, 2025 at the Ciputra Hotel, West Jakarta. The event will present national figures, legal practitioners, and hundreds of advocates from all over Indonesia.

Through this activity, KAI reiterated its commitment to continue to struggle to uphold the rule of law, maintain the independence of advocates, and make the value of the struggle of its founders a foothold in building a fairer legal system and taking sides with the people.
