Vice President Encourages Increased Involvement Of Vocational High School Students In Industry

JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka encourages the increasing involvement of Vocational High School (SMK) students to gain direct learning experience in the industrial environment.

He said this when he visited the electronics factory PT Pembina Galindra Electric Co. in the Bekasi International Industrial Estate (BIE), South Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, Wednesday, May 21.

Gibran believes this step can strengthen competence and increase the competitiveness of vocational graduates in facing the world of work.

Vice President Gibran also emphasized that the greater local content in products made in Indonesia, the stronger the national industry.

The Vice President reminded all industry players not only to focus on technological advances, but also to be environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Meanwhile, Director of PT TOA Galva Industries Asep Saleh said that the internship program and field work practices (PKL) have a strategic role in shaping the readiness of vocational and student graduates to enter the world of work.

According to him, the program is effective in bridging the gap between academic competence and industrial needs.

He also explained that the application of the level of domestic components (TKDN) in the TOA Group environment varies, depending on the type of product produced.

However, he emphasized that the implementation of TKDN has always been part of every production process run by the company.

During his visit, Vice President Gibran witnessed firsthand the workers who were assembling various electronic devices.

The visit aims to review the readiness and pay close attention to the dynamics of the manufacturing sector, while at the same time encouraging the increase in the contribution of the domestic industry to national economic growth.
