JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has confirmed that the impact of floods and landslides that have disrupted road access and power grids in a number of areas of Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java, has been handled properly.
Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said the flood that had occurred since Monday 19 May caused village road access to be cut off in Calingcing-Village Sukahening Village, Sukahening District, and until now the electricity network is still experiencing disruption.
Based on the temporary data received, he said, the number of residents affected in the flood disaster in Calingcing and Sukahening was 62 families (KK).
"In addition to flooding, landslides were also reported to have occurred in Sukamukti Village, Cisayong District, which caused the inter-village connecting route to be covered by landslide material," he said in a statement in Jakarta, Wednesday, May 21, which was confiscated by Antara.
Until now, he continued, the assessment process and handling of the impact of disasters are still ongoing, including efforts to restore road access and restore electricity networks in affected areas.
The handling of the impact of the hydrometeorological disaster, he said, was carried out in a mutual manner by a joint team of officers and residents who were commanded by the Tasikmalaya Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
"The BPBD Rapid Response Team together with residents worked together to clean up the mud material left over from the flood that covered the settlements and village roads," said Abdul Muhari.
