JAKARTA - India's Meteorological Department said five people died as a result of extreme rains which resulted in flooding hitting Bengaluru, India as of Tuesday, May 20.
Citing the Hindustan Times, the death toll includes Manmohan Kamath, a 63-year-old grandfather and a 12-year-old boy named ANGKA who was electrocuted while launching a puddle of water in a residential area in NS Palya near Phase 2 BTM.
The two victims were pulled out of the puddle to be rushed to the nearest hospital. However, doctors said Kamat and way to die upon arrival at the hospital.
Another victim was 11, a female staff member of a software company in Mahadevapura in Bengaluru. The 35-year-old woman died when the wall collapsed when heavy rains hit her home.

Meanwhile, two other victims died in Raichur and Karwar, respectively. Both died as a result of being struck by lightning.
The PTI news agency reported that the Bengaluru Central Director for the Weather Department, N Puviarasu, said the orange hazard status had been issued for flood-affected areas 8-10 cm in Bengaluru.
The Indian Meteorological Department estimates that rain will still hit the Bengaluru area on May 21-23. However, occasionally the sky will be cloudy.
Meanwhile, on May 24 and 25, high-intensity rain is expected to flush Bengaluru again.
