Jokowi's Issue Of Joining PSI Strengthens, Golkar Says: We Are Also Ready To Accommodate!

JAKARTA The issue of President Joko Widodo who is rumored to be joining and even leading the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) sparked a response from the Golkar Party. The party bearing the banyan tree said it was ready to open the door wide if Jokowi chose to move closer to Golkar.

Deputy Secretary General of the Golkar Party DPP, Puteri Komarudin, emphasized that until now Jokowi was not formally affiliated with any political party. Therefore, the direction of Jokowi's future political steps is a personal decision that is entirely in the hands of himself and his family.

"So of course it is Pak Jokowi and his family's decision. As for the end, he wants to anchor to which party, of course we really respect him as one of the best cadres of the Indonesian nation, not any party," said Puteri when met at the Golkar Party DPP Office, Slipi, West Jakarta, Sunday, May 18.

Puteri also mentioned the emotional closeness between the Golkar Party and President Jokowi. He said that the good relationship was one of the reasons Golkar did not rule out the possibility of becoming a anchor for the President after no longer taking office.

"Our position is waiting for the best decision from him. We know for sure Pak Jokowi wants to continue his service to this country," he said.

Furthermore, Puteri emphasized that Golkar is an open party that is not controlled by a handful of political elites. According to him, this party always opens space for anyone who wants to join, including national figures.

Golkar does not have a controlling shareholder and is always open to politicians, bureaucrats, women, men from any ethnicity. So even if there are high-ranking state officials who want to join the Golkar Party, we are always open to it.
