Foreign Minister Sugiono Appreciates The Signing Of The RI-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Action Plan

JAKARTA - Foreign Minister Sugiono appreciated Australia's support for signing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Action Plan, in order to maintain the intensive momentum of Indonesia's cooperation with Australia.

This was conveyed by Foreign Minister Sugiono when he received Australian Ambassador Roderick Brazier at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, Friday.

Starting the meeting, Foreign Minister Sugiono expressed his appreciation for the successful visit of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Thursday, conveying his commitment to following up on the agreement reached at a meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

Foreign Minister Sugiono also appreciated Australia's support, so the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Action Plan for the 2025-2029 period could be carried out between Foreign Minister Sugiono and his counterpart Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong.

"The signing of the Action Plan is carried out in order to maintain the momentum of intensive cooperation between Indonesia and Australia," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement, Friday, May 16.

Bilateral cooperation in strategic areas such as defense, economy, food security, energy, to people-to-people contact is a priority area for the agreement.

This agreement is also an important reference for the alignment of the priorities of the Government of Indonesia in the Asta Cita program and priorities of the Australian Government listed in "Australia's Economic Strategy in Southeast Asia to 2040".

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Sugiono also highlighted the stronger partnership between Indonesia and Australia in recent years.

This was marked by the signing of the IA-CEPA, Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Defense Cooperation Agreement, and various other agreements related to strategic issues.

Foreign Minister Sugiono hopes that intensive cooperation and strong relations between communities can continue to be established in the future.
