Climbers Missing On Mount Cikuray Garut Found By SAR Team

The joint Search And Rescue (SAR) team managed to find a climber from Karawang who was safe, who was previously declared missing for three days in Mount Cikuray, Cilawu District, Garut Regency, West Java.

"It's true, the victim has been found," said Cilawu Police Chief AKP Hasan Sadikin as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 16.

Victims of Elang Guntur (16), residents of Sukaseuri Village, Sarimulya Village, Kota Baru District, Karawang Regency, West Java were found on Friday morning in a safe condition in the valley between Post 6 and Post 5 Mount Cikuray.

Officers who found the victim immediately evacuated carefully by taking the victim to the foot area of Mount Cikuray to get further medical treatment.

"Currently, they have been evacuated to the bottom and taken to the nearest hospital for medical examination," he said.

The victim, when he arrived at the foot of Mount Cikuray, immediately received first aid from the medical team from BPBD Garut and volunteers who were previously on standby.

"Hopefully the victim will recover soon and be able to reunite with his family," he said

The victim was reported missing on May 13, 2025, while descending from Post 6 to the next post on the Mount Cikuray hiking trail, via Kiara Janggot, Cilawu District.

Teman korban baru melaporkan kehilangan salah satu temannya ke Polsek Cilawu, 14 Mei 2025 malam, selanjutnya dilakukan pencarian dengan menjalani jalur naik hingga akhirnya hari kedua pencarian korban berhasil ditemukan.
