Indonesian Navy Fails To Smuggle 1.2 Tons Of Cocaine And 750 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine In Thai-flagged Fishing Vessels

The Indonesian Navy thwarted the smuggling of drugs in the form of 1,200 kilograms (1.2 tons) of cocaine and 705 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine using a foreign fishing boat with the Thai flag in the waters of Karimun Regency, Riau Islands.

Head of the Navy Information Service Admiral TNI I Made Wira Hady Arsanta confirmed that the disclosure of the drug smuggling was carried out by the Fleet One Quick Response (F1QR) Team of the Tanjung Balai Karimun Navy Base.

"It's true, F1QR Lanal Tanjung Balai Karimun arrested or thwarted the smuggling of 705 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 1200 kilograms of kokain," said Wira as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 16.

He said the Tihailand-flagged fishing boat was detected carrying large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine in the waters of the Durian Strait, Karimun Regency. The ship is without official documents suspected of carrying out illegal activities in Indonesian waters.

"Sabu 705 kilograms and 1,200 kilograms of kokain use a foreign fishing boat with the Tahailand flag in the waters of the Durian Strait," he said.
