Prabowo Inaugurates Initial Production From 2 Oil And Gas Fields In Natuna

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the first oil and gas production from two project fields called Forel and Terubuk in Natuna waters, Riau Islands.

Through a video conference connection that is directly connected to the inauguration in Natuna waters, Riau Islands, President Prabowo appreciated the project as the first oil and gas field to be inaugurated during the new administration he led.

"This afternoon, Friday, May 16, 2025, I am Prabowo Subianto, the President of the Republic of Indonesia inaugurated the inaugural production of the Forel and Terubuk oil fields. Congratulations on your struggle, once again independent !," said President Prabowo who gave a speech from the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Friday, May 16, reported by ANTARA.

The President who was unable to attend to inaugurate directly conveyed that the Forel and Terubuk oil and gas fields were an important and historic milestone in the government's efforts to realize national energy self-sufficiency.

For information, the two oil and gas fields will produce a total production of around 20 thousand barrels of oil per day and an additional 60 MMSCFD per day.

According to Prabowo, self-sufficiency in national energy through these two oil and gas fields is very important for the independence of the Indonesian nation so that it does not depend on oil and gas imports.

"If we are able to achieve self-sufficiency in energy, we will save tens of billions of US dollars, hundreds of trillions of our money does not need to flow out of the Indonesian nation. Our economy will be strong, more money can be enjoyed by our people," said the President.

The Head of State emphasized the importance of self-sufficiency in energy, as important as national food self-sufficiency.

According to Prabowo, countries that have strong food and energy security will not be disturbed by other nations, and will be able to deal with any circumstances.
