JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked Hajj officers to prioritize services for the elderly (elderly), while visiting the Medan Hajj Dormitory, Medan Johor, Medan, North Sumatra.

The Vice President emphasized that the government is paying full attention to the smooth implementation of the pilgrimage, as directed by President Prabowo Subianto in various cabinet meetings.

"At every meeting or cabinet meeting, the President always orders us, as his assistants and Ministers, including the special appointed ministers, to ensure that this pilgrimage runs well," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 15.

Following up on the directive, the Vice President spoke directly with the pilgrims to ask about the services provided by the Hajj officers. Gibran also paid special attention to the elderly who participated in this departure.

Earlier I met several gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen who happened to be over eight decades old. I entrust this to the officers, assistants, so that the elderly ladies and gentlemen are prioritized," he said.

The Vice President also reminded the importance of the readiness and speed of officers in responding to various needs of the congregation, including if there are special conditions that require immediate attention.

"So, ladies and gentlemen, if there are obstacles there, they need medicine, or certain foods, maybe here there are these taboos, the taboos will be submitted to the officers. What is clear is that the officers will have to be ready, alert, act quickly to help you, ladies and gentlemen who are worshiping, "he said.

Gibran, who was accompanied by the Governor of North Sumatra Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, directly observed the readiness of facilities and services provided to prospective pilgrims before their departure to the holy land.

The vice president also greeted 359 prospective pilgrims from Batubara and Medan who were members of Group 12.

In addition to reviewing domestic readiness, the Vice President also said that the government continues to seek to increase the comfort of the congregation while in the Holy Land, including related to costs and accommodation.

One of the initiatives being pursued is the construction of a hajj village in Saudi Arabia.

"This Mr. President himself has a concern regarding the cost of Hajj. Then yesterday there were also instructions to immediately establish a Hajj village there to make it easier for you, ladies and gentlemen, when you worship later, everything will run smoothly and come back in good health," he explained.

As a form of support from local governments, the Vice President encourages the North Sumatra Provincial Government to apply for "fast track" route facilities to accelerate and simplify the departure process for Hajj pilgrims.

"I ask the Governor, yes, maybe later he can apply for fast track facilities to the embassy and coordinate with the Ministry of Religion," said the Vice President.

Gibran also prayed for the congregation to be given smoothness during worship and return to their homeland in good health and become a great pilgrimage.
