Police Call Puncak Jaya Conducive After Peace 2 Conflicting Groups Imbas Pilkada

The police said the security situation in Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua was gradually conducive after the peace of the two warring groups so far due to the 2024 Pilkada.

Puncak Jaya Police Chief AKBP Ahmad Fauzan said that currently community activities in Puncak Jaya are recovering

"Indigenous Papuan women who sell their agricultural products have been selling, including by placing their merchandise on the side of the road," Fauzan said when contacted, Thursday, May 15, as reported by Antara.

Fauzan said that although it was relatively conducive, members were still conducting dialogistic patrols to provide a sense of security to residents.

While patrolling members, they also appealed to residents not to carry traditional weapons such as bows and arrows.

The patrol will be carried out every day on foot along residential areas to provide a sense of security.

"Hopefully the appeal is obeyed so that the security situation recovers," Fauzan hoped.

Previously, on Monday, May 12, two warring groups of people as a result of the election of regional heads agreed to make peace marked by breaking Doli's wood.
