"We just held a bilateral meeting with the leaders of Algerian parliament, Bahrain, Oman as well as the Czechs. And the Czechs came as observers," said Puan

At the bilateral meetings, Puan was accompanied by the Deputy Chairperson of the DPR's Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), Irine Yusiana Roba Putri, and Member of the DPR BKSAP Gilang Dhielafararez, and Mufti Anam. Bilateral meetings with the 4 leaders of the friendly countries were held separately.

After that, Puan met with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Czech Republic, Jan Skocek.

In the 4 bilateral meetings, Puan together with the parliamentary leaders who were present discussed issues related to international dynamics, as well as increasing cooperation between countries through parliament. In particular, Puan mentioned the importance of the commitment of world countries to the Palestinian humanitarian issue.

The resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is an important issue that must get our common attention. Among other things, through the cessation of war in Gaza and ensuring access to humanitarian aid," said Puan.

In addition to supporting the independence of Palestine, Puan also discussed a number of issues, including those related to peace between nations, to regional and global stability. Together with the chairman of the Algerian People's National Assembly, Puan also brought up the history of Indonesia and Algeria that could not be separated from the figure of the First President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno, who from the beginning supported Algerian independence until independence in 1962.

"Indonesia and Algerian relations have a long history and are built on the basis of a joint struggle in the decolonization and solidarity of South countries," said Puan.

Meanwhile, when meeting with the Chairman of the Bahrain Parliament, Puan also discussed the issue of protecting Indonesian citizens (WNI) in the country considering that the number of Indonesian citizens in Bahrain reached 6,900 people, most of whom worked in the informal sector.

In particular, he appreciated the efforts to protect Indonesian citizens by the Bahrain Government.

Then with the Chairman of the Syura Council of the Sultanate of Oman, Puan discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Puan said that the diplomatic relations between the Republic of Indonesia and Oman that have existed since 1978 have continued to develop consistently and are based on the similarities of Islamic values, mutual trust and close friendship.

"I hope that the two countries can intensify political cooperation by realizing the Postponed Political Consultation Forum due to the Covid-19 Pandemic," continued Puan.

Puan said cooperation between parliaments can also be carried out through global and regional level parliamentary forums, including through PUIC. According to her, the 19th PUIC Conference is a moment to garner solidarity between Islamic parliaments in facing increasingly complex global challenges.

This, said Puan, can be done by growing people's resilience, through the realization of good governance, accountability, and transparency.

"PUIC as a representative of the parliament of Muslim countries can play an active role in creating a just, peaceful and prosperous world," said Puan.

After the bilateral meeting, Puan then checked the readiness of the 19th PUIC venue in the parliament complex. Starting from the dining room for delegates and the chairman of the state parliament who attended, to the Plenary Meeting Room I of the Nusantara Building which will be used as the opening and closing place for the 19th PUIC.

The 19th PUIC will be held at the DPR building, from May 12, 2025 to May 15. Although the official opening ceremony will only be held tomorrow, Wednesday, May 14, the 19th PUIC series of activities have started since Monday, May 12, with a number of important meetings.

Several meeting sessions that have been held include discussing issues related to Palestine and Muslim Minority, Civilization and Religion Dialogue, Economics and the Environment, as well as issues of Human Rights, Women and Families.

"As the Chairperson of the DPR RI, I feel proud and honored to be able to bring together the OIC state parliaments. The DPR is ready to host and try to give it it its best for the implementation of this conference," explained Puan.
