Thugs Of Illegal Parking Land Rulers In Monas And Thamrin City Areas Again Arrested By Police

JAKARTA - A number of thugs who often control illegal parking lots in the Thamrin City area, Tanah Abang and the North Medan Merdeka Street area, Gambir, Central Jakarta, were arrested by members of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resmob on Sunday, May 12, 2025.

This act of thuggery was revealed after the police received information from residents who were disturbed by the actions of illegal parking attendants who often insisted when asking for parking money, even though they did not have legality.

"The practice of illegal parking like this is a form of thuggery that should not be tolerated. We take firm action because this is not only a matter of order, but also the comfort and security of the community," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro, Monday, May 12.

In the Berantas Jaya 2025 operation, 4 thugs were arrested in front of Thamrin City Mall and in the North Medan Merdeka Street area, Gambir, Central Jakarta.

The four perpetrators are known to have the initials SMP (27), DVG (24), N (23), and S (41). They were caught collecting illegal parking fees from pass road users and stopping around the location.

From the hands of the perpetrators, the police secured evidence in the form of cash worth a total of Rp. 149,000 which was allegedly the result of illegal levies with thuggery acts.

The four illegal parking attendants were immediately taken to the Central Jakarta Police Headquarters for questioning and guidance.

"We have clarified and provided guidance to them because the victim did not make a police report. We also ask the four of them to sign a statement so as not to repeat their actions. If they still violate, we will process them further according to the applicable law," he said.

According to him, thuggery practices in the form of illegal parking often grow in the central city area due to high mobility and many points prone to parking without supervision.

For this reason, Operation Eradication of Jaya 2025 continues to be intensified as a repressive and preventive step.

"We will not compromise any form of thuggery, both on the streets and in other public spaces. People are entitled to a city space that is safe, orderly, and free from extortion," he said.

The Central Jakarta Metro Police appealed to the public to actively report all forms of thuggery, including the practice of illegal levies and disturbing mass organizations so that the city of Central Jakarta can be a comfortable place for all residents.
