ITB Student Becomes Suspect Of Meme Prabowo-Jokowi, This Is Campus Explanation

BANDUNG - The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) stated that it had coordinated with various parties regarding the arrest of students from the Faculty of Fines and Design (FSRD) by the police regarding the upload of state head memes through social media.

"In response to this news, we can convey that ITB has coordinated intensively and cooperated with various parties," said ITB Director of Communication and Public Relations Nurlaela Arief in Bandung, West Java, Friday, May 9, as reported by ANTARA.

He said coordination was also carried out by the ITB University with the Student Parents Association (IOM) in responding to this case.

"The campus continues to provide assistance to female students," said Nurlaela.

As for the student, Nurlaela said the parents of the person concerned had come to the ITB campus this Friday and apologized.

Previously, the National Police confirmed information on the arrest of a woman who uploaded a meme depicting President Prabowo Subianto on social media X.

"It is true, a woman with the initials SSS has been arrested and processed," said Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko to reporters in Jakarta, Friday.

Regarding the SSS identity, Brigadier General Trunoyudo did not reveal it.

The perpetrator was charged with the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE).

"The suspect SSS violated Article 45 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 27 paragraph (1) and/or Article 51 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 35 of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE)," he said.

Currently, Bareskrim Polri investigators are still in the process of investigating SSS.
