PKS Gathering With Golkar, Although 'Different', But Agreeing To Prioritize National Affairs

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) continues its ramadan safari by visiting the Golkar Party. The arrival of PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu and his entourage was received directly by Golkar Chairman Airlangga Hartarto.

This meeting is a follow-up meeting for PKS after PDIP, PPP and PKB. Tomorrow, PKS is scheduled to visit the NasDem Party.

Golkar Party Chairperson Airlangga Hartarto appreciated the friendship with PKS. The two political party leaders also discussed a number of things.

"First, of course we are both concerned about the KRI Nanggala accident and together pray for the martyrs and also the families left behind so that the government will continue to encourage the families to get government support," said Airlangga at a press conference at the Golkar DPP office. Second, he continued, in this COVID-19 pandemic situation, PKS and Golkar highlighted the third wave of incidents in other countries, including in India where daily cases reached 300 thousand.

"Of course several other countries have also experienced a third wave and this brings us to remember and be alert, be careful," he said.

In the framework of Eid al-Fitr, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy said PKS also supports government policies regarding the prohibition of going home for the sake of the safety of the souls of the Indonesian people.

Meanwhile, in situations of conflict and economic recovery, said Airlangga, the position of PKS and Golkar was the same because they put the interests of the state and the nation first. So that for the handling of covid and economic recovery, the steps taken by the government of course require input from parties outside the government, including PKS, so that the targets given are right on target.

"Then also notes related to future economic recovery. One of them is in the framework of the drafting of the RKUP law which is of particular concern to encourage small and medium enterprises and also individuals. Where the PTKP is expected to be appointed and it will provide additional in this pandemic situation so that purchasing power can increase, "said Airlangga.

In addition, PKS-Golkar both want to prioritize national affairs. Despite Golkar's position in government and PKS outside the government, both are committed to mutual respect.

"It is hoped that identity politics will be abandoned so that we will build diversity as well as the Republic of Indonesia and more conducive politics, so that we can share the welfare of society," said Airlangga.

Meanwhile, PKS President Akhmad Syaikhu said his party hoped that the agreement at the meeting could be implemented to strengthen the welfare of the Indonesian nation.

"Hopefully in the future democracy will be better and more mature so that it will increase. Of course there is a need for the togetherness role of the parties in our beloved country," said Syaikhu.
