KPK Traps Former Talaud Regent Sri Wahyumi As A Suspect In The Gratification Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) appointed the Regent of Talaud Islands for the 2014-2019 period Sri Wahyumi Maria Manalip as a suspect in receiving gratuities. Sri Wahyuni was detained for 20 days at the KPK Branch Detention Center, the Red and White Building.

"The KPK has completed the investigation by collecting various information and data so that sufficient preliminary evidence has been fulfilled. Furthermore, the KPK has raised this case to the investigation stage since September 2020 and named the SWM as a suspect (Sri Wahyumi Maria Manalip)", said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto in a press conference broadcast on YouTube KPK, Thursday, April 29.

In the process of investigating the alleged gratification, investigators have examined 100 witnesses and have confiscated various documents and electronic evidence.

"For investigation, the KPK detained the SWM suspect for 20 days from April 29, 2021, to May 18, 2021, at the Red and White House branch of the KPK", he said.

Karyoto explained that this case was an extension of the alleged bribery case which previously also charged Sri Wahyumi. The bribes were given in connection with the auction of revitalization jobs in the Lirung Market and Beo Market in 2019.

This case occurred after Sri Wahyumi was appointed as Regent of the Talaud Islands for the 2014-2019 period. Sri often conducts meetings in official and private homes with several working group heads for the procurement of goods and services.

In addition, Sri is also actively asking for a list of work packages for the procurement of goods and services in the Talaud Islands Regency that has not yet been auctioned. Then, she ordered the Heads of the working group of Talaud Islands Regency PBJ to win certain partners.

Not only that but she was also suspected of providing handwritten notes on small pieces of paper containing information on work packages and appointed partners.

Sri then asked the Heads of the Talaud Islands Regency PBJ to provide a commitment fee of 10 percent of the budget ceiling value. "The money that she allegedly received was around IDR 9.5 billion", said Karyoto.

For her actions, Sri Wahyumi is suspected of violating Article 12 B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes.

"This case is the second time that SWM has been named a suspect. Although in terms of time, this second case was first carried out by her. The development of this case is one of the many examples of cases that stem from catching hands", concluded Karyoto.
