Prabowo Supports Asset Confiscation Bill, Member Of Commission III DPR F-Golkar: We Push To Be Discussed Quickly

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR from the Golkar faction, Soedeson Tandra, welcomed President Prabowo Subianto's support in supporting the Asset Confiscation Bill. According to him, the president's support is also in line with the attitude of his faction in the DPR RI.

"This asset confiscation law is one of the laws in the field of corruption protection. We have a law, eradication of corruption is already there, the KPK is already there, everything is there. However, related to asset confiscation, this is very important. regulated," said Tandra, Friday, May 2.

For this reason, he considered it important to immediately discuss the legal objectives of the Asset Confiscation Bill regarding its certainty, justice and benefits.

"This certainty means that in the law the confiscation of assets is regulated which assets may be confiscated. Is the asset only from the proceeds of crime, or other assets to meet state losses, for example. So we need to regulate that right," said Tandra.

"For example, if the Criminal Procedure Code says that what can be confiscated is the proceeds of crime. Second, the goods used to commit crimes. But it has not been regulated further about corruption. So that this asset confiscation law needs to be in order to eradicate corruption to its roots, to recover the state's losses as much as possible," he continued.

Regarding the Asset Confiscation Bill not yet included in the 2025 Prolegnas, Tandra said the Golkar faction had encouraged the discussion of this bill to be accelerated. However, the authority to discuss the Asset Confiscation Bill rests with the Legislation Body, not Commission III of the DPR.

"Before he (the president) said that, the Golkar faction had encouraged him. Now especially now that he said that, yes, we will be very, very encouraging," he said.

"Just like this, the law for confiscation of assets, the bill is in Baleg, not in Commission III. But if it is submitted to Commission III, we will frankly explain that the Golkar faction in Commission III will move quickly. Because it is already a directive from the party, yes, the direction from the faction that we will immediately implement it, when it is discussed," continued Tandra.

Tandra ensured that the discourse on discussing the Asset Confiscation Bill was not evaporated because it had been rotating for a long time but had not been discussed. The bill, he said, could be a carry-over bill to be discussed by the next DPR if it had not been ratified in this period.

"That's not it. So if we used to not know the so-called carry-over. The last law can be carried over. So every time it will be discussed. But now we already know the so-called carry-over. So later when it's discussed it's not finished, the next program, the next DPR must discuss it," he explained.

"Well, there is no discussion yet. If it has been included in the Prolegnas, for example, in this period it has not been completed, the following period must be discussed because there are rules regarding carry-over," concluded Soedeson Tandra.
