BOGOR When handing over the Circular Cup of the Minister of Culture at the Golf Tournament of the 2025 Golf Open Minang Family Association (IKM), Sunday, April 27, Menbud Fadli Zon emphasized the need to raise the traditional game of the Minang Irama Art (KIM) into a national Intangible Cultural Heritage. He considered that the preservation of traditions such as KIM is important to strengthen the nation's identity in the midst of the swift current of modernization.

The tournament, which was held in Sentul, Bogor, was attended by 160 participants from the Minang community, both from overseas and from West Sumatra. This activity was initiated by DKI Jakarta IKM with the support of a number of SOEs, including Hutama Karya, State Gas Company, Telkomsel, Semen Padang, to Bukit Asam.

In his remarks, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasized that culture cannot be separated from daily activities, including sports. "The culture is extensive. Culinary, traditional games, to traditional sports such as KIM, are part of the object of cultural promotion," said Menbud Fadli.

In addition to golf matches, the committee also presented the game KIM, who has lived in the Minang community for a long time since the 1950s. Fadli assessed that this game is not just entertainment, but is full of literacy, education, and historical value.

" KIM's arm has a high element of knowledge. It's not just about entertainment, but educational media and cultural preservation that must be recognized more broadly," he stressed.

He encouraged KIM to be immediately proposed as a national-level Intangible Cultural Heritage. According to him, the preservation of traditional games such as KIM is part of the constitutional mandate as regulated in Article 32 Paragraph 1 of the 1945 Constitution.

The IKM Golf Open 2025 tournament was opened by DPD member Irwan Gusman along with representatives of the West Sumatra Kadispora and the West Sumatra Liaison Agency. Also present were the Director of Semen Padang, members of the West Sumatra DPRD, IKM administrators, and BUMN representatives.

Fadli also reminded that the principle of Minang society "Where the earth is stepped on, where the sky must be upheld" must be maintained. According to him, these values strengthen local civilization wherever the Minang people are.

The event closed with the official handover of the Minister of Culture's Circular Cup to the Chairperson of the 2025 Golf Open IKM Organizers. This Cup will be a symbol of the champion in a tournament which is expected to be an annual routine agenda.
