BPBD Lebak Urges Residents To Beware Of Disasters Due To Bad Weather At Night

LEBAK The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lebak Regency, Banten, appealed to the public to increase awareness of potential natural disasters due to moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds, especially at night until early morning.

"We ask residents to be aware of high rainfall at night, because it has the potential to cause natural disasters," said the Head of BPBD Lebak, Febby Rizky Pratama, in Lebak, Sunday (27/4).

BPBD Lebak has disseminated information on this bad weather forecast to all volunteers, village officials, sub-districts, and sub-districts. Extreme weather is expected to occur in the next few days, so it is important for the community to increase disaster preparedness and mitigation.

Febby also revealed that the high intensity of rain had caused a number of incidents, one of which was a fallen tree in Central Village, Rangkasbitung, which hit a resident's house. Luckily, there were no casualties in the incident.

Meanwhile, the head of the Lebak Regency Disaster Preparedness Youth Volunteer (Tagana), Iwan Hermansyah, said heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds occurred from 19.00 to 20.30 WIB, and most likely it would continue until the early hours of the morning.

In dealing with this situation, Tagana Lebak Regency has alerted 223 personnel spread across two main posts, namely the Rangkasbitung Command Post and the Bayah Command Post.

"We are ready to move quickly to evacuate in the event of a natural disaster," said Iwan.

People, especially those living in flood-prone areas, landslides, and fallen trees, are advised to remain vigilant and follow directions from the authorities and volunteers in the field.
