JAKARTA - The Special Team for the Joint Intelligence of Kodam XIV/Hasanuddin succeeded in dismantling an online fraud syndicate network called "Passobis" by securing 40 perpetrators in Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap) Regency, South Sulawesi (Sulsel).

"There are 40 perpetrators with ages ranging from 15 to 45 who were involved in various tasks while committing fraud," said Commander of Korem 141 Toddopuli Brigadier General TNI Andre Clift Rumbayan during a press conference on the disclosure of the case at the XVI/Hasanuddin Military Command Intelligence Detachment Office, Makassar, Friday, April 25, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the disclosure of the online fraud network case began with reports from the public received by the intelligence team regarding the profiteering of the names of TNI officials. Apart from the community, the victims are also from the internal TNI and members of Persit (wife of TNI AD soldiers).

From this information, the joint cyber and intelligence team immediately moved to follow up on the report by tracing the coordinates of the syndicates known to be in Sidrap Regency, South Sulawesi.

After confirming the location of the perpetrators in Pangkajene Hamlet, Pangkajene Village, Maritengngae, Sidrap Regency, the joint team immediately raided the house on Thursday (24/4) night. Then the perpetrators were transported using TNI trucks to the XIV/Hasanuddin Kodam Headquarters in Makassar City.

"Mereka ini nantinya kita akan diserahkan kepada pihak kepolisian untuk menjalani proses hukum sesuai ketentuan yang berlaku," tutur Andre.

Head of Information for Kodam (Kapendam) XIV/Hasanuddin Colonel Gatot Awan Febrianto on that occasion explained that this syndicate known as Passobis was known to be part of an organized group with the name "Putra 99" whose brain was coordinated with the initials HK.

"This group is coordinated directly by someone with the initials HK, the name of the group is Putra 99. Each member has their own roles and duties, ranging from fraud under the guise of investment, buying and selling vehicles, electronic goods to posing as a member of the TNI and desperate to wear the attributes and clothes of the TNI service," he said.

"For the number of victims, said Gatot, quite a lot. The modus operandi of this syndicate varies from trading market investment, buying and selling online. They target anyone including members of the TNI to become victims," he said.

When asked how much profit this syndicate made when carrying out its fraud, Gatot revealed that the Putra 99 group could get money from fraud between Rp. 70 million to more than Rp. 150 million with victims between 20'30 people per month.

"They (members) of this syndicate can get a 10 percent wage from the opinions they get from fraud," said Gatot.
