Musician Rayen Pono reported member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Gerindra Party faction, Ahmad Dhani, to the Council's Honorary Court (MKD) on suspicion of ethical violations in the form of insults to clans.
Rayen reports directly to the MKD with his team of attorneys at the Parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, April 24.
"Today we are present at the MKD, the Honorary Court of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, at the DPR RI building. I am with the team of attorneys, Pak Jajang and friends, representing AJPNKO, came to submit a complaint file related to ethical violations by Ahmad Dhani as a member of the DPR RI Commission X," Rayen told reporters at the DPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, April 24.
Rayen explained that this report is a form of seriousness between himself and the team in responding to Ahmad Dhani's statement which is considered to contain elements of insulting the Pono clan, which is part of the identity of the extended family in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region.
According to Rayen, their report file has been received by the MKD and is now entering the administrative verification stage.
"After the file is received, it will be verified. Then within 14 working days after verification, there will be a summons for clarification and hearing directly with representatives from the MKD," he explained.
Rayen assessed that this report was not only related to Ahmad Dhani's personal statement as a musician, but also related to his responsibility as a representative of the people.
"This is a form of our seriousness, because we consider this issue not an ordinary issue. Ahmad Dhani is now a member of the council, not just a musician. Therefore, we think this step needs to be taken seriously," said Rayen.
Rayen also explained that the insult to the Pono clan was not only targeting himself personally, but also touching the dignity of the people of NTT at large.
"Those who have the Pono clan are not only me. But also everyone in Sabu, NTT, in Sumba, Kupang, all of NTT, even in general. In Indonesia, there are many cultures and clans, Sulawesi, Sumatra, Batak, Padang, and others. This concerns cultural diversity that must be respected," he said.
"Commission X is art, culture, education, sports. He should understand culture and cultural values. If Mas Dhani was not a member of the council, maybe this would not have been so far," added Rayen.
He also hopes that this report will be an important lesson in the ethics and moral responsibility of members of the DPR in their attitude, especially in the context of Indonesian cultural diversity.
"Members of the council must be at the wisdom level. Not only good at talking, but also wise in responding to diversity and maintaining the dignity of the people they represent," he concluded.

Meanwhile, in his response, Ahmad Dhani admitted that he had apologized to Rayen Pono about the error in the invitation draft which he said was wrong in writing.
"I'm sorry for the typo in the invitation draft," said Ahmad Dhani, Wednesday, April 23.
