The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the East Java Police has named four suspects in the kidnapping of the students of the Metal Islamic Boarding School in Rejoso, Pasuruan City.

Four suspects were kidnapped by S (24), a resident of Gempol, Pasuruan, who lives in Surabaya; P (60), a resident of Mojo Kidul, Surabaya; MHR (32), a resident of Kaliasin, Surabaya; and AE (34), a resident of Rejoso, Pasuruan.

"The arrest of the suspect was carried out after a report from the boarding school received by the Pasuruan City Police. The kidnappers were arrested while at the exit of the Kebomas Toll Road," said Head of Sub-Directorate III Jatanras Ditreskrimum East Java Police AKBP Arbari in Jumhur in Surabaya, Antara, Thursday, April 24.

Jumhur said the kidnapping of the victim with the initials MS (17) was wrong. The four perpetrators allegedly received orders from a person with the initials P (in the search for persons/DPOs) to kidnap a man with the initials R alias D, who is suspected of being linked to a narcotics abuse case.

"However, it was MS victims who were students who were kidnapped and did not have any connection in the case," he said.

The arrest of the perpetrators was carried out by a joint team from Sub-Directorate III Jatanras Ditreskrimum Polda Jatim and the Pasuruan City Police Criminal Investigation Unit. A total of seven people were arrested for further investigation, until finally four people were named suspects.

In their action, the perpetrators forcibly took the victim using a black Toyota Avanza from the Metal Islamic Boarding School area, Rejoso. The incident was caught on surveillance cameras (CCTV) and went viral on social media on Monday (21/4) night.

"The victim was taken to a residential area in Kebomas, Gresik. During the trip, the victim experienced threats using an airsoft gun and acts of violence by the perpetrators," said Jumhur.

The four suspects had different roles in the kidnapping. Suspect S acted as the executor and smothered the victim with a sarong, then suspect AE served as a driver as well as carried out detention, while suspect P also carried out the kidnapping, and MHR was involved in acts of physical violence against the victim.

Police are still hunting for the main perpetrator with the initials P who entered the DPO or fugitive. The motive for the kidnapping is known to be related to the alleged abuse of methamphetamine, which previously did not reach the main perpetrator.
