JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, highlighted a number of problems in the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program, such as poisoning and alleged embezzlement of funds.

He encouraged the government to continue to evaluate and improve so that this program can really benefit the people, especially school children.

"We understand that this program is still new, so there is still a lot that must be perfected and evaluated in the future," said Puan Maharani, Wednesday, April 23.

As is known, it has recently been widely reported that there have been a number of cases of student poisoning after consuming the MBG menu. Most recently, the case of MBG food poisoning occurred in Cianjur, West Java.

Puan believes that the government will continue to improve and strive so that similar incidents do not happen again.

"So let's give the Government the opportunity to perfect this program, because MBG basically has a good goal, especially for our children," said Puan.

Puan also encouraged the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to conduct an in-depth evaluation starting from the side of quality standards, food safety, and hygiene in the MBG menu presentation process, which is President Prabowo Subianto's flagship program.

"It is necessary to evaluate anywhere that is still lacking. Good programs, so the implementation must also be good," said Puan.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also welcomed President Prabowo's intention to evaluate and investigate the alleged embezzlement of MBG program funds by a foundation with the initials MBN which was reported by a kitchen partner in Kalibata, South Jakarta (South Jakarta). Puan supports President Prabowo Subianto's steps to be ready to investigate this issue.

"We agree that the money used for the people must be distributed properly," said Bung Karno's grandson.

Puan said the evaluation was important so that the MBG program could really benefit the community, especially children. He ensured that the DPR would continue to oversee and supervise the implementation of the MBG so that the noble goal of the program could be achieved.

"We in the DPR will continue to supervise so that the Government evaluates, so that later the MBG program will really benefit the community, especially for children so that they can grow up as superior human resources," said Puan.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the House of Representatives Charles Honoris asked the National Nutrition Agency to manage the MBG program in an accountable manner. He encouraged BGN to report the MBG program regularly because the budget was large and had been approved by the DPR.

“Kami ingin melihat program ini berjalan baik, apalagi makan bergizi menjadi program strategis Presiden Prabowo," kata Charles Honoris.

"We want to see this program going well, let alone eating nutritiously into President Prabowo's strategic program," said Charles Honoris.
