6 Car And 3 Motorcycle Collisions In Padang Panjang, 12 Injured

JAKARTA - A series of accidents involving six cars and three motorbikes occurred on Jalan St Syahrir Silaiang Bawah, West Padang Panjang District, Padang Panjang City, Wednesday, resulting in 12 injuries.

Head of the Padang Panjang Police Traffic Unit, Iptu Jamalluddin, said the accident occurred at 11.30 WIB.

"As a result of the accident, it caused a long traffic jam from Padang Panjang to Padang City," he said in Padang Panjang, Wednesday, April 23, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the successive accident began when the Hino BA 8006 NU truck driven by Asril Yasri came from Padang Panjang to Padang City.

Arriving at the Bukit Berbunga area, the brakes suddenly did not work, so the vehicle he was driving hit the vehicle in front of him, namely six cars and three motorbikes.

He explained that as a result of the accident 12 people were injured and are currently receiving treatment at the Yarsi Hospital, Padang Panjang City.

"Our personnel immediately secured the location and evacuated the vehicles involved so as not to interfere with traffic flow. Currently, this case is being handled further by Laka Lalu units," he said.

He appealed to motorists to always be careful, obey traffic rules, and maintain a safe distance between vehicles to avoid similar accidents in the future.

Still a series of cases of the same accident, at the scene, one minibus fell into a ravine approximately 10 meters deep.

It is strongly suspected that after being hit by Hino's truck, which was suspected of having failed brakes, two units of white ringsek minibuses and one unit of black minibus were badly damaged on the right.

Before being evacuated, a motorbike appeared to be destroyed under the ill-fated truck.

The owner of the motorcycle Al Haki said that before jumping off his motorbike, he had seen a white innovated mini bus unit heading towards Padang avoiding traffic jams.

"I came from Padang, until I saw this ill-fated truck coming out of the back of the white iineova. I had stepped on the brakes because of the suspicious situation of the truck in front of me. I immediately jumped to save myself, but my motorbike was crushed and hit by the truck," he said.

Al Haki, initially planned to return to Rengat, Riau Province after attending a family event in his hometown in Ketaping Padang.

He was grateful that the initiative to jump off the motorbike saved him from death.
